3 Fils

3 Fils, a quaint eatery over looking Jumeirah’s fishing harbour, has been the talk of the town for quite sometime. Serving up modern Asian cuisine with Japanese influence – tapas style – will  have you planning your next visit even as you are still finishing your meal! Chef Akmal Anuar, a Singaporean native, heads up the kitchen and is the man behind all the magic!

The interiors are modern and elegant. If you are seated indoors, you get to watch the chefs in action. Innovative food served up in an unpretentious setting – we need more of this!!

They do not have a liquor license, but the mocktails are certainly very creative. My (HI-5) concoction of hibiscus and citrus was super refreshing and quite the palate cleanser!

  • Dragon Sushi

Their sushi rolls have got to be one of my favorites. Not tasted combinations like this anywhere! The Dragon shrimp tempura with gochujang sauce and pickled onions, The Volcano salmon teriyaki with flying fish roe and a gochujang sauce and The Asparagus Tempura with a fried egg, chili mayo, chili pepper and wait for it – TRUFFLES!! How can one go wrong with any of this!

The King Crab Salad with a Thai chili dressing and oriental condiments is the latest addition to the menu! An explosion of flavors.

Okay, just writing about it is making me drool. This Asian barbecue pulled beef with chipotle mayo and avocado on a corn waffle reached some serious flavor goals! You might want to leave aside table manners and use your hands to dig right in.

Charcoal. No spoilers. You will need to discover it for yourself.

The Sakura Ebi with capellini pasta, lobster oil and garlic was another crowd pleaser. Simple ingredients boasting some really bold flavors. My kind of dish!

Lamb ribs in a spiced bbq marinade. Meltingly tender, fall off the bone kind!

Indomie‘, a take on the Singaporean instant noodles. Ramen tossed in a spicy oil with sausage strips, asparagus and snow peas! Boy, Ramen just got elevated to a whole new level!!

Moving on to the dessert, this is the tomato that wants to be a strawberry! For someone who rarely eats raw tomato, this dish was playing some mind games on me. Confusing, but oh so tasty! And just look at that plating. Beautiful.

Appropriately named African powerhouse – a slice of Ghana dark chocolate with Madagascar vanilla ice cream. Decadent, smooth and so very rich!

I say make the most of this awesome weather we have right now and head on down to 3 fils. The perfect spot for an al fresco meal. You won’t regret it! Also make sure you ask the servers for the daily specials. You might just be in for a tasty surprise. Recommend making advance reservations.
